Minneapolis, MN. October 17, 2014 -- Symbology, Inc. and their affiliate Webscan, Inc. will partner for participation in the MD&M Minneapolis medical device show Oct. 29 and 30.

FDA requirements for UDI (Unique Device Identification) and tracking of medical devices are being phased in throughout the industry. Timing is based on device classification and risk assessment as defined by FDA.

Devices must be marked with both "human readable" and automatic (AIDC) machine readable data indicating manufacturer/device; and if applicable batch/lot or expiration information. The automatic/machine readable data carrier of choice is a barcode.

Barcode quality must meet established ISO/ANSI print standards to ensure that the code will be scannable throughout the supply chain. To ensure acceptable barcode quality, codes must be checked with a barcode verifier that evaluates quality on several set criteria.
